  • Join the Summer Reading Challenge!

This summer, give your child the gift of reading and the chance to earn recognition through the Summer Reading Challenge sponsored by Assemblyman Colton's office! This fantastic program is designed to encourage children to read every day during the summer vacation, fostering a lifelong love for books and learning.

By reading every day it helps children develop critical thinking skills, builds their vocabulary, and improves their comprehension, setting them up for success in school and and in life!  Children who read for 40 days or more will receive a prestigious New York State Assembly Excellence in Reading certificate.  This is a great way to motivate your child to take pride in their reading accomplishments.

Today, your child will receive a brochure with all the details about the Summer Reading Challenge.  Set aside time each day for your child to read.  Whether it's a chapter book, comics, or non-fiction, every page counts!

    Happy Reading!

  • Why attendance matters

The school year isn’t over yet and learning is still happening every day! Don’t miss out and make every day count!

Regular attendance improves your chances of graduating and achieving postsecondary success.

Missing just 2 days of school per month, can have a lasting negative impact!!

  • IMPORTANT: 2026-2027 School Calendar

The 2026–27 school year calendar (available in all NYCPS languages) is now available! The school year will begin for students on September 10, and ends on June 28.

This calendar includes important dates such as holidays, recesses, and half days.  We encourage all families to schedule vacations and appointments around this calendar, as every day in school counts.  Attendance is very important for student success, and we appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that your child is  present for all learning opportunities.
